Ontario law requires us to collect this information for every contribution and report it to the City of Burlington.

Eligibility (required by Ontario law)

Contributions to municipal campaigns in Ontario are governed by the Municipal Elections Act, 1996. Only individuals who are residents of Ontario may contribute. Corporations, trade unions, and contributions on behalf of others are not permitted.

Per-donor contribution caps apply under Ontario law. Contributions over $100 will be reported with the contributor's name and address in the campaign's financial filing with the City of Burlington, as required by law.

Contributions to municipal election campaigns in Ontario are not eligible for a federal or provincial tax credit and are not tax-deductible. Donors should not expect a tax receipt.

Your donor details are collected to meet Ontario reporting requirements and shared only with the campaign's Chief Financial Officer and the City of Burlington Clerk's office.
